Visiting from L.A. And was excited to try this place after reading yelp reviews. Right off the bat they were out of French onion soup which was disappointing. Food was pretty good, but the bitchy/inattentive server we had got my husband's order wrong (he ordered the fish sandwich and she brought out fish and chips) and rather than apologize, she said "I heard fish and chips". She was rude and made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. Wish we had chosen a different restaurant.

Granger's is cozy restaurant with delicious comfort food. The walls are lined with posters and framed photos of Marilyn Monroe, Led Zeppelin and Jimmy Hendrix along several other icons. There is a wide range of coffee table books stacked in each window sill that are available for browsing. The staff was attentive and friendly. They do not serve cocktails, however wine and beer are available. I ordered the Beer Battered Onion Ring Stack that is served with two horseradish sauces. The onion rings are stacked on an iron airplane with the sauces on the side (smiles). The classic wedge is iceberg lettuce topped with bacon bits, diced onion and tomatoes, homemade blue cheese sauce and crumbles and a balsamic glaze. This was so fresh and yummy. Lastly, but not leastly is the Rocky's Reuben which is corned beef brisket that is sliced thin and piled high topped with sour kraut, thousand island and swiss cheese on grilled rye bread. This sandwich is HUGE. It is so tasty and crafted with perfection. So good. Nom. Nom. Nom

My wife loves the French onion soup. I like the steak and cheese, buffalo shrimp and fried oysters. They may become our regular spot. Great food great service. Good people.

Although they didn't take reservations, our party of 9 had a great dinner here this past Saturday! I had called ahead and was warned that they didn't take reservations, but I really wanted to dine at Granger's. They 'stacked the odds in my favor' and ended up having 2 tables that they pushed together for us. The service was incredibly fast and the food was great! I am bummed that I didn't take a picture of my glass of wine, as other Yelpers noted, the pour was huge! I'm convinced it was the size of half the bottle!! Several of my friends had the ribs special and said they were really good. I had the chicken ceasar sandwich and it was delicious! It is a very tiny place and I'm sure during season it is packed, but we lucked out and had a good time there last weekend!

Excellent Food and the sweetest waitress ever. Small but clean, good prices.

Really good little divey spot in Delray! Portions are very large, and the food is great! They get really busy during typical lunch hours, and since this is a tiny spot, go early (11:45am) or after 1pm to make sure you can get a table. Servers are friendly, but they're a bit rushed when they're full. Most of the patrons appeared to be regulars, not just snowbirds. The tuna melt is served with the sweet potato fries, which are more like thick chips. Soooo tasty when dipped in BBQ sauce (I ordered that extra on the side for .50). Good menu; next time I'm trying their veggie burger!

Drove past this place many times a finally stopped in. Very Americana type diner with Led Zeppelin, Hendrix,Beatles and the Stones posters adorning the walls. Place is small but charming. The waitress, Francelica (sic) is a modern and pretty version of Flo ( kiss my grits) with all the charm that goes along. I had the Ahi tuna sandwich, topped with bacon ( yes bacon) covered in blue cheese, served with sweet potato fries!!!!!!Absolutely a winner. Fresh food, great portions, terrific ambience. A word of caution, only a few tables and a counter. Place is a converted gas station so not a lot of parking or seats, lunch time is crowded. Another fav is the chili mac and cheese. True comfort food. A little off the Atalanti Ave, but Definately a tee shirt and flip flop crowd, sprinkled with suits and ties.

We were very fortunate to stumble across Granger's while driving along the A1A in search of the best Conch Chowder, while visiting Florida this week from Washington State. This was my first Conch Chowder experience, and I doubt I will find any better. Loved the atmosphere & music of this little iconic restaurant too! Wish I lived closer so I could try everything on the menu.

Good diner food. Homey very casual atmosphere. I like the 70's disco music which is not too loud. Great burgers.

My boyfriend is a regular here- he works down the street and often comes to Grangers for lunch. He always tells me how great it is and the other day I finally got to experience just how great it is myself. I met him for lunch and even though my expectations were high from how much he talked about it, they were exceeded!! The service is very friendly, helpful, and laid back. The atmosphere is cozy and clean. It's very small inside so give yourself extra time if you're going for lunch because it will be busy! The food was EXCELLENT and very well priced for the size of the portions. I had the French onion soup as well as the fajita steak salad, and both were delicious. The salad was huge! I had enough leftover for dinner that night. My boyfriend had the MGM sandwich which was also amazing, and the coleslaw was some of the best I've ever tasted! I could rave about this place all day it's soooo good! I definitely recommend it and can't wait to go back.

Needed a good burger, so we tried a neighbor's recommendation. She also had a long list of must also try while we're there...so we did. The chile is amazing, hubby had French onion soup, very good. We each had a burger, me a patty melt...again outstanding. Husband had the cheese burger with blue cheese and bacon. We are full and quite satisfied. The place us definitely worth the trip. Four stars only, just thought the waitress could have thanked us when she gave us the check, or when we paid. Just a nice touch.

I come here at least once a week for lunch and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. From salads to their burgers, they are all good! The restaurant itself is really small, but don't judge a book by its cover because once you have a taste you won't be disappointed. The portions are amazing for the price. I leave full every time. They also have one of the best chili I've tasted. It's full of flavor and dexterity. It's a must try if you're in Delray. Keep in mind you could experience long waits during peak times during lunch or dinner.

Grangers is very very small (prob 8-10 small tables and a bar), but what it lacks in size it makes up for in intamacy, flavor and fast friendly food. Had some pasta with chili on it (sounds strange but was very good) and ordered Dianes "donuts" for dessert, i was so full already but they were freaking great i had to stop myself! There was this rasperry dipping sauce that tastes like the jelly from jelly donuts, but it was liquidy and the donuts were sweet/salty which were addictingly delicious.

Shame on me for not wanting to try this place out! Okay...Okay.... I've been trying not to eat out as much and American dining is never my first pick. A friend of mine had gone to Granger's and was raving about it and kept asking my husband and I to go check it out with him. I put it off and off and finally after he offered to pay I said why not!?! Delray has some amazing restaurants and Granger's might not look like one of them from the outside but what's inside is definitely mind blowing. The restaurant use to be a gas station ( I think) it's oddly shaped and only offers a few tables, bar seating and along one wall is maybe 4 or 5 booths that fit 2 people each. It's pretty modern inside and very clean. We had the pleasure of sitting at the table for 3 in the triangle window. So random but cozy. The age group was all seniors which was what I was expecting at 6:30 on a Sunday night. The staff is young though and very friendly. Our waitress was Alek and not only was she attentive but extremely likable. Her customer service was exceptional. Started the night off with a few appetizers. Whenever we try a new place we always over order. How else to you really get a feel of what dishes the restaurant has to offer... Fried zucchini with horseradish dipping sauce: A+ The portion was huge for $8.00 and the breading and parmesan could not have been more crunchy and flavorful. I used the sauce later on my fries it was so yummy! We also had 6 wings medium and the shrimp stuffed jalapenos. OMG! Get the jalapenos! Fried perfectly and oozing creaminess. Wings were pretty good as well. I like mine hot so I only had one but I would order them again just in a hotter sauce. The boys got burgers for dinner and they both loved them. One was smothered in onions and mushrooms and the other was loaded with cheese and chili. My hubs added a fried egg on top of his for an additional charge and the burger was a beast. He said it was high up on his top burger list. I ordered the BCBT which was rare tuna steak loaded with house made blue cheese and bacon. Sinful and delicious. A+ and 5 stars for sure! It came on a bun but I ate it with out. I would order this again in a heart beat just skip the bun. All the sandwiches came with crinkle fries or sweet potato fries. Crinkle fries are fun. I'm a fan. Fountain soda is a must for us to be regulars at a joint and Yes, they have fountain soda! I had a glass of their house Chardonnay and not only do they use the same huge glasses that I use at home but the pour was just as generous as mine. Now I'm really a fan! Lets discuss dessert. Yes, we took it to the next level on this very gluttonous meal. Chocolate cake was rich and could feed an army. Secret recipe donuts were sugary goodness and come with a raspberry dipping sauce that makes them that much better. Key lime pie was served on accident but yes we tried that too. I'm glad it was accidentally served because it was my favorite of the 3. Mouthwatering tartness with a perfect crust. Apparently they have an amazing fried lobster special on Friday nights and I'm dying to go back to check it out. They are only open for Lunch and Dinner and do not take reservations but you can call ahead and reserve a Special of the Day since once it runs out your outta luck till next week. If you haven't checked out this little Delray spot then your missing out!

This cute and classy American diner is just a short walk from my office, perfect for lunch. It is really small and does have an odd shape but these details are incredibly endearing. Really cool posters of movies like Pulp Fiction and the Professional, stars like Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles and the Miami Heat players. The potato chips are crispy hot and delicious.

As anyone who who reads my other reviews can see I can fairly be accused of being an obnoxious foodie with an emphasis on japanese, Chinese and korean cuisine. But I also really love dinner food...turkey clubs, onion rings and whatever is the 'specialite de Maison'. Granger is hardly a dinner but rather what I would call an American comfort food emporium where food you might find in a dinner is elevated to its highest possible incarnation. Last night I sat at the counter and watched the food come out of the kitchen and I am committed to eat each and every item on the menu. Have you ever had a hamburger that was so good that you swoon a little with each bite? I have had two now both from Grangers. My son and I were stuffed after the burgers and onion rings and French fries but our server convinced us to try the home made donuts with salt and caramel. She told us that it was her recipe and all I can say is the tastes and textures on those things...the cool real whipped cream, the freshly fried dough, the warm caramel and then the salt ...we gobbled all eight up without taking a break to breath. It's really something to observe a place where it's all working...casual friendly servers and a kitchen team that knows exactly what's it's doing and does it at the highest possible level with the best ingredients. That's Grangers.

Just take my word for it...the ribs (when available) are worth the trip..6 stars!! portion was huge, sides amazing..service with an attitude (a great one that is...) My first trip (my sister has lived in Delray for years and loves this place) and I will be back!!! GREAT JOB!!

So far so good. Conch Chowder was hearty and a bowl was huge. Should have gotten the cup my wife got. Tuna salad my sister n law got was massive and she said delicious. My wife's fahita salad looked like it could feed a family of 4. By brother in law got the RP burger. Looks like a truck tire. He said it tastes amazing. I'm waiting for my rack of ribs. 5:50 pm Saturday night. Line out the door waiting to come in. Luckily we got here about 5pm and got a seat. More after my ribs... Full rack just came. Looks huge. I got the last rack. Waitress said you can call ahead to reserve a rack for eat in or take out. They are slow cooked for 2 days... time to dig in. Full rack is 12 ribs plus cornbread, plus fries, plus coalslaw. Taste is amazing. So lean and tasty. Only get the full rack if you want to take some home, or if you bring a spare stomach or two. Staff is very friendly and kind. A great experience. Great food. Would come back in a heartbeat. Wanda is the best and says hello.

The homemade donuts are crazy addictive delish. Like something you would get in new Orleans. Their meatloaf sandwich and grouper sand sooo yummy.

Went here for dinner a few weeks ago. I was a little skeptical at first, as I've worked in restaurants similar to Granger's and was not expecting much. It exceeded my expectations for the size of the place. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our drinks orders were taken immediately, and our waitress was very prompt. I went with 3 other people, and we ordered 2 apps to share, the raspberry chipotle drummets and the shrimp stuffed jalapeno poppers. The wings were ok, definitely nothing to write home about. The stuffed jalapenos were awesome. For our entrees, I ordered the Reuben with fries, another one of us ordered the Buffalo wings and the other two ordered the fish and chips. Wings looked generic, and I recognized the fish filets as frozen and pre-breaded. Frozen fries, which aren't really a problem, as most restaurants use frozen fries anyhow. My Reuben was above average. The menu says the corned beef is made in house, which for me is a major selling point. It was well seasoned and very tender. The rest of the sandwich was brought in, but the corned beef is really the star of the show anyhow. All around, it was a good, affordable meal.

I work downtown Delray Beach and have driven by this place for years on the way home, (even cursed at some of the traffic snarls it created) but never stopped in till yesterday, (part of that get out of a rut idea I have). Talk about stepping back into 'Mel's Diner', what a neat place, I mentioned to the waitress (yes waitress) that it was my 'first time' in and she announced it to her coworkers with alot of enthusiasm, from that moment forward I got a preview of everyone's meal as it came out of the kitchen, along with a history lesson and an endless list of recipes and recommendations. I had the Reuben, great portion, great flavor, the fries were what you'd expect (crinkle cut) but were fresh and hot. I never wanted for any refills or attention. When I left, I was given a 'packet' of menu / specials / history sheet with a protective cover to bring with me so I will remember to return. I gotta bring some friends back just to show them "look what I found"...

Home town restaurant--Comfort food to the max. Sesame Tuna is good every night and daily specials are worth the week wait to get again.Great salads. Just off the main drag. Not many seats and don't let the appearance fool you. A local secret.

Well made comfort food with attention to detail and spun up a bit. More than you would expect from just looking at it. I'm glad this place hasn't been ruined by Guy Fieri preaching about how it takes you to "Flavortown"... as schmarmy as that is.. this place does take you to ... "Flavortown" Also, the waitresses are very friendly and attentive.

  • Ashley M.

This a cute little restaurant which once was a gas station. They serve fresh homemade food and have specials every night of the week. The food is phenomenal for the price. The yellowfin tuna, fried grouper, and mahi mahi are so delicious an fresh! Highly recommend eating here. Only warning is the bathroom is outside and is not very sanitary. Also because this place is so small, there's a long wait during prime time dinner hours. But it's worth the wait or worth coming early.

Granger's is our go-to spot for quick, inexpensive, no frills diner style eats. This is NOT the place to go if you are looking for fine dining, candlelight, wine lists, and overpriced ambiance. Go to Atlantic Avenue if that is what you seek. Much of the menu here is well thought out and very well executed. Among my favorites are the fried shrimp, fish & chips, chili pasta, and the salmon reuben...the burgers are also top notch! The only disappointment I can even recall here was the fajita steak salad which was flavorful and balanced but the steak itself was very chewy. Not to worry, there are plenty of other delicious options! While service can be overburdened at times they have never disappointed, always friendly and prompt and never once leaving us waiting too long for the check. Be sure to check out the specials board...most of the specials truly are special!

Amazing home style cooking at a great price. Just off the Ave but miles away from its pretentious vibe. I live just a couple blocks away so finding this after moving in was amazing. I recommend the burgers, or any of the sandwiches really, and DEFINITELY try the French onion soup

This is my favorite little hole-in-the-wall spot to go for good comfort food in Palm Beach County. Granger's has been around for a long time and has that charming old-diner feel to it. A majority of the food is homemade and it's always served fresh and in large portions, making it another great spot to share. We usually start off with an order of the buffalo-style shrimp (they're $9 and absolutely addicting) or some chili ($3.75 for a good-sized cup or $7.25 for a massive bowl). The entrees range from $7 to $14. My personal favorites are the grilled chicken and shrimp caesar salad and the Cajun chicken Philly. I have also heard rave reviews about the mile-high meatloaf that is served on Saturdays and the smoked BBQ ribs that are served on Wednesdays.

I have driven past this place hundreds of times and finally tried it last week, and I'm seriously wondering why I waited so long. This is a cute tiny little hole in the wall "dive" but don't let this stop you. The food is divine and the ladies that work there are wonderful. We started with the raspberry chipotle drumettes and then I had the bacon, blue cheese burger which was one of the top 3 best burgers I've ever had. You must also save room for dessert...they have fresh fried donuts that they serve with a raspberry dipping sauce. These things are seriously a little pillowy piece of heaven on earth! Can't wait to go back if not just for the fresh donut goodness!

  • Shannon G.

This place is a gem! I have never had a bad meal here. The wait can be too much sometimes but I always look forward to chowing down there. BEST CONCH CHOWDER out of Key West!!! They even serve it w some sherry and sweet hawaiian style bread. NOM!! The have a tight system. 1 girl seats you and takes your drinks and another comes around to take yout food order. Don't mess mess w these gals, they know what they're doing. Must trys- Conch Chowder, SOD, Garlic Steak, Ceasar Salad, Coco Shrimp, BlacknBlue Burger. Whatever the special is!!!

I just moved to downtown Delray recently and this place is a quick walk from my house.... and what a treat it is. You walk in to a quaint little place with cool old school pics all over. The table has older/random books to look thru along with old trivial pursuit cards to quiz yourself while you wait (not long at all ) for you food. The servers are awesome. Super friendly and very attentive - and pretty impressive when there are only two for the enitre place. I had a reuben that was delicious and a huge glass of yuengling for only $3. You totally get that locals only vibe - and after this trip I can totally see why. I hope this place stays a hidden treasure . . . .

  • Jim C.

Don't be fooled by the humble exterior - this is a great little spot, mostly funky local vibe, with excellent sandwiches and other bar food. I really like the coconut shrimp, sweet potato fries, and don't forget the meatloaf!

Grangers Grille- Enough said! All I can say is WOW!!! If you are looking for the best COMFORT FOOD.- No need to look any further. This is the place. I have been going here for years and have never been disappointed everything on the menu is great. Too Great! I can never decide on just one item. My favorite is the Black and Moo- A Blackened Bleu Cheese Meatloaf served with Sweet Potato Tater Tots. The home made Conch Chowder and Clam Chowder is to die for. You can't top their ribs, either. The meat falls right off the bone. If you want to avoid the pricey places on the Ave., and want a full plate of food and not just one sliver, this it the place. Did I mention, that the wine portion is very generous. Complete your meal with the homemade donut holes with the raspberry sauce. I can just eat those all night or day. Don't pass this place up. The staff is top notch. I love this place.

  • Kat M.

We are regular locals, food is very good. However, stopped going in because since they are very busy and full in season, the staff has become very indifferent if you are there or not. Very disappointing. It's okay if it's busy but if the staff acts like they really don't care, why bother to patronize. They'll be looking for us when it's slow in July. Come on Tim...get the staff in order!

I've passed this lovely little destination, many a plenty of times on my way home via Federal Hwy... and finally got a chance to stop in! First impressions: (outside) Simple, dated look, limited parking. First impressions: (inside) Quaint (not a lot of seating); reminiscent of Hollywood in the good ole days; friendly service. Prices are definitely affordable and worth it for the amount and quality of food you get. For starters, I ordered the Bahamain Conch Soup- 3 stars (was not expecting it to be tomato based) but it was good--not great, but good. I also ordered the Honey Garlic Wings- 6 for $4.50... The wings were quite good... I enjoyed the mixture of flavors and it was just as expected! My dining partner ordered the Black and Moo--- ohemgee was THAT delicious... Its meatloaf with cheeses and served with a side of sweet potato taters which they can substitute with "waffle style sweet potato fries" and pickles on the side of that! Good solid food, nice vibe. P.S. The Literary enthusiast in me was just tickled at the books aligned on the windowsill for patron's amusement and browsing :)

Fun place great food what more could you ask for. It funky and I like it The salads are great and OMG that blue cheese dressing to die for I love their dinner specials and sandwhiches. And there are always a bunch of regulars there and the staff remembers what they order WOW

I saw the article on the Palm Beach Post a while ago and I wanted to check this out with some of the yelpies. Unfortunately, one wasn't able to make it, so Rachel and I enjoyed the night for her :) The place has limited parking and it's a small restaurant with a bar inside. I had a honey garlic wing, which was flavorful. The Black and Moo is simply amazing. It's a meatloaf sandwich loaded with blue cheese crumbles and bacon. The side of sweet potato taters were delish and I'm not even a sweet potato fan. The service was always on top with the staff. They constantly came over to check to see if we needed anything and if everything was cooked according to our standards. Monday or any other night dinner fun is always welcome :)

Before relocating to Brooklyn, I lived right down the street from this place. I miss it like crazy. I crushed many a hangover here. All the food is solid diner fare and it tastes fresh. Their mahi sandwich (key west style) is absolutely perfect and the meatloaf (when they run it) is one of the best I've had. They do ribs once a week here (not sure of what day) and they're so popular that you have to call ahead and reserve an order if you want to stand a chance at getting them (and of course, they're delicious). Finally there's the crab bisque which is also a special that runs from time to time and it is absolutely DELICIOUS! I signed up for the call list (they actually call you when they have it on to let you know) and I'm still on it (perhaps subconsciously, I feel as though I can at least know it's on and that someone is enjoying it so I haven't requested I be taken off the list!) . I weep whenever I get the call because I'm no longer a stones throw away. If you're curious about this place then I hope this review encourages you to try it. A helpful tip would be if you go on any weekend night (especially during season) expect to wait a while for a table as the place is very small and they get packed.

Went to this diner on the rec of of some friends for a quick lunch. I have to say although it is simple and lacks frills, it was well worth the trip. I had the turkey burger which was perfectly cooked, quite flavorful, and a nice sized portion. My dining companion had shrimp, which she also thought was quite good. The service was efficient and friendly. While the decor is a bit corny diner (old movie posters) like, it adds the ambience of this nice, reasonably priced find.

Worked in Delray for over 10 years and Granger's was a regular lunch stop. Their Grilled Tuna is the best thing on the lunch menu ... if you want a huge lunch. Runner up is the Mahi filet sandwich (order the Cajun style). Sweet potato fries are a must. Wash it down with a DogfishHead 60min IPA. Though I live in Lauderdale, I still make pilgrimages to Granger's, but not as often as I'd like. Excellent, friendly service and a larger menu offering than most diners. Stop in for a late lunch to avoid the crowds.

We found Granger's a couple of years ago when looking for a burger place. We went and had burgers that were excellent, but just never went back. However, again we went searching for some quality BBQ ribs and Grangers appeared again. I didn't know they sold ribs. When reading the menu I noticed you have to call and reserve an order as they only offer them on Wednesday and Saturday and make a limited quantity. I'm glad I called because when we arrived the waitress said somebody was trying to take my order. I love ribs and most places I've been to fall short. The ribs here are awesome and the full rack portion is huge. The meal comes with cole slaw that was also really good, not a lot of mayo which I like, really good smoked baked beans; and standard type fries which were just fair, but I wasn't there for the fries anyway. If your into some good ribs you must give them a try, I highly recommend them.

Been here twice already and in all honesty the food isn't anything special. It's a small diner and is definitely a hole in the wall. I am all for hole in the wall restaurants but this it's definitely a place you try once and that's it. Prices are decent for the food portions you get which is good. But overall, an okay experience.

I heard so much about Grangers. Went the other night and it wasn't very clean - nobody even wiped off the table - I had to. Beer was great but the food wasn't anything to write home about. We won't go back. Very bland.

    (2)
  • Elle A.

The food here is ok. Salads here are fresh and really large. The Black & Moo meatloaf is tasty. The sweet potato tots tasted like they came from the freezer - same with the regular fries. The rib eye sandwich was a problem - we sent it back three times - first it was overcooked and inedible (it was requested medium), the the next two times it was completely raw. Finally took it home, seasoned it and cooked it to our liking. Not sure if we'll be back at this point.
